Kimono ReThink is built on a lifetime love of kimonos. As a young girl studying Japanese Classical Dance, I had the privilege of wearing many exquisite kimonos—each one a unique masterpiece that inspired and transported me.
Their elegance, craftsmanship, and vibrant colors sing to me to this day.
Sewing is my hobby. In real life, I am a full time computer programmer - a proverbial modern woman. But for many years, I've collected kimonos with the dream of someday using my sewing skills to retrofit these vintage beauties for the modern world. Kimonos are ill suited to modern life. Traditionally, kimonos are reserved for special occasions in Japan, making them impractical for daily wear. I want to change that. I want to bring kimonos into the everyday.
Kimono ReThink is a new brand of Kimono evangelism built on love of Kimonos - their beauty, craftsmanship, and exuberance of color. With every stitch, I strive to honor their rich history while making them accessible, wearable, and effortlessly stylish for today’s world.
